This Thursday, the brotherhood of El Rocio began its pilgrimage to Almonte, stopping at our hotel Las Casas de la Judería Cordoba. The Simpecado of the Cordovan brotherhood carries relics of Blessed John Paul II.
Pilgrims say that the Rocio cannot be understood, you must live it, and in fact, just a few minutes beside the Simpecado are enough to feel the enormous devotion that drags the Blanca Paloma. One more year, the Cordovan brotherhood was in charge of starting the pilgrimage with an emotional farewell from the capital to the industrial area of Amargacena, where the pilgrims spent their first night.
As for the numerous new ornaments of the “carreta”, two front columns could be seen, topped with a capital and medallions of the central arch, which front part represents the brotherhood coat-of-arms and the one at its back represents the city one. Also, the image of the Madonna Fuensanta and her divine Son which accompany the Simpecado of the Blanca Paloma, wore new gilded silver crowns made by the Cordovan goldsmith Daniel Porras.
Emotion, joy and lots of color in a large procession of horsemen, women dressed as gypsies and "rocieros" dresses. On its way along San Fernando Street, the Simpecado was received by the three brotherhoods of San Francisco (Cabeza, Huerto and Caridad). A few minutes later, and with the ringing of bells, the procession entered the Holy Cathedral and followed their way passing in front of our hotel.
